High School Academy Programs
Pike County Schools partners with Troy University for the Music Industry Academy. Music is part of the universal human condition. Whenever and wherever humans have existed, so have music and entertainment. As a result, opportunities for careers in the music industry can be found far and wide.
Pike County Schools partners with Enterprise State Community College for the Agriscience Academy. It is a learning establishment that introduces students to broad career opportunities in the agriculture industry while teaching them practical job skills and real world knowledge. The Academy provides students with industry related courses of study and prepares them for further studies in higher education. Along with career opportunities and real world knowledge, the Academy teaches students discipline, determination, work ethic, responsibility, and teamwork.
The Academy of Business & Finance was established in 2001 and at the same time began an affiliation with the National Academy Foundation which serves more than 88,000 students throughout the United States.
In 2010, we partnered with Enterprise State Community College and began offering college credit to our Academy of Business & Finance students. The seniors of 2012 were the first graduates to graduate with an Advanced High School Diploma/Advanced Career Technical Education Endorsement and an Associate in Applied Science Degree. Students must complete 70 hours of college credit while they are in the Academy of Business & Finance in order to be awarded their Associate Degree.
We have partnered with Troy University to offer college credit to our Exercise & Health Academy. The seniors of 2019 were the first graduates to graduate with an Advanced High School Diploma and an Associate in Health & Exercise Science Degree.
We have partnered with Troy University to offer college credit to our First In Flight & Leadership Academy. The seniors of 2016 were the first graduates to graduate with an Advanced High School Diploma and an Associate Degree in General Education with Leadership.
Additionally, through a partnership with SkyWarrior out of Pensacola, FL, students are provided with ground school training and accumulate actual fight hours that places them well on their way to their private pilot license.
There is no cost to students who participate in this program.
The Global Studies Academy will prepare high schools to compete in the workforce of the 21st Century and prepare them to enter the nation's best colleges and universities.
The Academy for Global Studies will graduate 21st Century Citizens who are: value oriented, competent in communication and problem solving skills, skillful in critical and analytical thinking, aware of their interdependence in a global and multi-cultural society, technologically literate, and prepared academically to meet the challenges of work or post-secondary education.
Students will take 24 college credit hours at Troy University in English and History. All college courses are delivered at Troy University, Troy Campus. Global Studies students receive both high school and college credit.
*This is the only academy that does not lead to an associate's degree.*
Health & Information Technology
The Health Information Technology (HIT) Academy through the Pike County School System, in partnership with Enterprise State Community College, is an exciting program designed to prepare students for careers in medical offices focusing on skills like: medical coding and billing, records maintenance, insurance filing, and medical office management.
The seniors of 2019 were the first graduates to graduate with an Advanced High School Diploma and an Associate in Health Information Technology Degree.
Industrial Art & Design Degree Map
Industrial Art, sometimes referred to as Technology Education, has two pathways students may choose from: 1) Industrial Arts Focus or 2) 3D Printing Focus. Industrial arts in general is where students learn to work with a wide variety of materials with hands on activities. Students may learn to work with metal, wood, power machines, sustainable materials, and more. They learn the design process and workflow plus much more.
International Studies Degree Map
The International Studies Academy is a program specifically designed to prepare a student for the ever-evolving demands of a Global Community. The Pike County School System has partnered with Troy University – Alabama’s International University – to offer this unique, comprehensive instructional program. A program of this nature could prepare a student for opportunities in business, politics, diplomacy, etc…all on an international stage.
In partnership with Enterprise State Community College, the Pike County School System is offering this academy to students who are interested in Business, CNC Operations, Electronics, Advanced Controls, and Programming. The successful completion of this program will lead to an Associate’s Degree and prepare students for a rewarding career.

We have partnered with Troy University to offer college credit to our Performing Arts Academy. Students will graduate with an Advanced High School Diploma and an Associate Degree in General Education with an emphasis in Theater/Drama.
The Pike County School System’s Dual Enrollment STEM Academy is an extension of the elementary/middle school STEM initiative started during the 2015-16 school year. This Dual Enrollment STEM Academy offers college courses such as Chemistry, Calculus, Physics, and more. This 3-year program, in cooperation with Troy University, will offer these highly motivated students with challenging STEM material while earning college credit for future STEM-related instruction/education and careers. This program will be a tremendous boost for the students’ futures and for the overall STEM community.
Certificate Programs
Pike County Schools partners with Wallace State Community College - Hanceville for the Agriscience Certificate. It is a learning establishment that introduces students to broad career opportunities in the agriculture industry while teaching them practical job skills and real world knowledge. The Academy provides students with industry related courses of study and prepares them for further studies in higher education. Along with career opportunities and real world knowledge, the Academy teaches students discipline, determination, work ethic, responsibility, and teamwork.
Pike County Schools partners with Wallace Community College - Dothan for the Cosmetology Certificate. Cosmetology is the science and art of beautifying and improving the skin, nails, and hair. Classroom instruction prepares students with the knowledge base necessary for the actual application of skills. Students then practice skills on mannequins and each other and gradually move into live work activities.
